Random Notes & Drills
- Reloading
- Magazine Position
- Position the extra magazine primer back
- Grasp with your finger running along the front of the magazine
- Gun Position
- Keep the gun up in front of your face
- Tilt magazine well slightly towards your weak hand
- Process
- Grab new magazine
- Bring to gun, hold in between fingers
- Remove old magazine
- Look at a point just along the edge of the mag well
- When the magazine lips enter the magazine well, look at the target
- Continue pushing in
- When complete
- Drop old magazine
- Place old magazine someplace other than the magazine holder
- Resume grip and firing
- Water bottle Drill
- Hold a water bottle as you would a handgun
- Practice moving without shaking the water
- Cross Eye Dominant
- If you are cross eye dominant, move the handgun slightly to one side
- Don't cock your head
- Grip
- You steer the muzzle under recoil
- Practice with different off and strong hand grip amounts under the gun steers straight
- Generally, you want the off hand to provide the primary gripping force to control the recoil
- You only need one finger to hold the gun
- Hold the gun with strong hand only, just with middle finger
- Don't press with your thumb, press the backstrap against the pad in the back of your hand
- Press the trigger
- You will probably shoot more accurately this way than with a full grip
- Presentation
- Practice the draw backwards
- Don't look to reholster the gun, ever--learn where the holster is, instead
- The gun comes into the line of sight, not the line of sight to the gun
- Front sight first, then rear
